Installation and first launch
The stores PixWork can be installed from are listed under "Get PixWork" at the bottom of this page.
On first launch, if no language is set, you’ll be asked to pick a language. That setting controls the language used for company information and text generated by Company Brief. It defaults to a guess based on the device language and can be changed anytime in Settings.
Names, company names, job titles and addresses read from a card are kept in the language printed on the card, whatever this setting says. It is not a translation feature.
Google Sign-In
There is no separate PixWork password. You sign in with a Google account.
Ordinary sign-in requests only basic profile information (openid / email / profile). Nothing is requested for Google Sheets at this point.
An additional permission is requested only when you turn on the Google Sheets connection. See "Sharing and managing in Google Sheets" for what it covers.
If you use more than one Google account, note which one you signed in with. Data saved under one account is not shown when you sign in with another.
Scanning a card — three modes
The camera screen offers three modes. Switch based on what you’re doing.
| Mode | Cards | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Single | 1 | Shows a preview after capture; you confirm the photo before analysis runs |
| Batch | Several | Reads several cards in one shot. There is no post-capture preview; analysis starts immediately |
| Save Only | One at a time | Skips AI analysis and just saves the photo to the device; it can be analyzed later in bulk |
In Single mode’s preview, you choose between "Analyze with AI," "Analyze later," or "Retake." Photos marked "Analyze later" stay in the Unanalyzed list. Batch normally skips this preview, starts analysis, and then lets you review the contact candidates before adding them.
Reviewing and correcting the record
After analysis, review the contact record that is about to be added. Tap Edit when anything needs correcting.
Edit makes each field changeable, and a saved contact can be edited again at any time.
The reading can contain mistakes. Confirm that this is the contact record you want to add before saving it.
Duplicates, editing, deletion
Saving what looks like the same contact a second time triggers a duplicate check and a merge suggestion.
Any contact can be edited or deleted manually at any time. Changing a row’s status to "Deleted" in the sheet marks that contact deleted inside the app, so it drops out of the list. It does not remove it from the phone’s address book. "Saving to your phone’s contacts" covers what happens to the OS contact book.
What to do when something goes wrong
- "Scan limit reached" — the scan allowance on your current plan is used up. Check the plan screen in the app for the current details
- Analysis failed, or no card was detected — the photo is not deleted. It stays in the Unanalyzed list, so you can retake it or run the analysis again in better light
- A Google Sheets error — sheet structure errors, simultaneous edits by other members, and per-contact conflicts are all covered on "Sharing and managing in Google Sheets"
Purchases, billing, and restore
PixWork has a free tier and a paid plan. What each one allows — scan allowance and what appears on screen — differs between them.
Check the plan screen in the app or the store listing for the current details and prices.
If a purchase doesn’t show up after a device change or reinstall, use "Restore purchases" in Settings. This requires being signed in with the same Google account or Apple ID the purchase was made with.
